Unbloggable

Shit's going down. Man, oh man. Much of it is developing, fluid, yet-to-be-determined stuff, and much of it falls within the category of information and events where maybe it isn't so appropriate to do on-line reporting and commenting. There's meetings, and rumors, and hypothesizing, and throughout it, desks full of kids who still need to be taught more, always more.

Hi TMAO,
I'm a junior in college and am doing research on Teach for America. I was particularly interested by your insight into TFA from your Nov. 11 (What's TFA's Problem?) and Aug. 12 (This Job is Not Your Service Project) entries. I've been learning more about TFA through reading articles on the web and interviewing a handful of current TFA teachers and graduating seniors soon to be shipped off to Institute in the city where I currently go to school. The majority of what I've been reading and hearing shines an attractive light on TFA with criticism at a minimum. The people I've talked to have also expressed their admiration and commitment to TFA's mission statement. I'd been straining to see the darker underbelly of TFA when I came across your blog. It made me think.

If you're interested, I'd like to talk to you about your experience with TFA and in particular how it's formed some of your critiques. I realize that you may not have wished to get personal inquiries from your blog (as there are no email links anywhere), but I thought I'd give it a shot.

Best,
Eunice
