Sending It Up The Flagpole

For the last few weeks, E. has been rating my assignments. It's taken some time to figure out the system, but I think I got it.

When the assignment is really good, he draws a flagpole in the bottom corner, with a rippling banner that says "Good Times," raised all the way to the top. If the assignment was good, but not great, the flag was at half-mast. A few times it was not there at all, which I take to be a neutral ranking. Today I turned over a summary we wrote on the protests over the Muhammed cartoons and I see the flagpole, the flag raised to the zenith, with "Bad Times" inscribed.

Yup.
