Mark Your Calendars: Washington, D.C.
Rumor has it I'll be speaking on a panel about blogging in the trenches*, one of those ed phrases that just drives me nuts. My job is difficult, and on days like yesterday, appallingly frustrating, but no one's chucking mustard gas at me and I've never been asked to charge a fortified position, so maybe we could dial down the rhetoric a wee bit, hmm? Also, one of my co-panelists is the guy who throws down over here, and while I read frequently and with great interest, there's just no way we're both in the same trench, is there?
Additionally, there will be awards for the best blogs. Given this blog's Alan-Keyes-like performance in past blog competitions, I can't hope for much, but will nevertheless have remarks prepared well in advance of the announcement.
*Click, link, and scroll all the way down. Seriously, do it.

I submitted your three best. Good luck.
hey.. they listed YOU first..
and it wasn't alphabetical.
OMG.. i mean, is newt still alive?
Dan: That was awful nice, buddy. Thanks.
Anon: Maybe the used reverse-importance-ordering?
seriously... can we talk about newt on this panel..
or are you still brushing up your acceptance speech?!?
I'm not even prepared with a position on this. I have no idea what he's gonna say. What if he says we need merit pay and shouldn't have tenure? I'd have to applaud... and then that would mean that Newt and I...
i went on his website.. i was so shocked to see him even showing his face in public...
and it looks as if he bums around on fox and promoting his books.
his wife could possibly be even scarier.. with her god books.
hey, have a great time!!
and congrats.
once i figure out to put the url stuff up i will cast my vote for you!!
Whoa.
How could a panel this big be effective at all? I mean, doesn't it seem like it doesn't follow good evidence-based practice rules of not overwhelming the audience and average attention spans, etc.?
Will you each have 79 seconds to present a statement and then there will be 42 minutes of Newt taking questions? The logistics are a little mind-boggling to me.
I submitted these other three. It's hard to choose.
H: Thanks.
T.Robot: I think there are four separate panels for four separate break-out sessions.
i figured out how to link on the "ballot" to my favorite posts.. it was cool to go through the blog and find them.
so i cast my vote.
hey, i hope it gets counted.. not sure now w/ newt on the panel.
Congratulations on being featured as a panelist! That's great news!
